it just never stops

man.

may and june have been so stressful!

first, it started with a nasty case of impetigo. my son brought it home from school. well, that means antibiotics for 6 weeks, bleach baths, etc. oh, and washing sheets, towels, couch covers every night. well, it is the same bacteria that carries strep. so, of course, i got strep. i always get strep if exposed! 2 days of 102 fever. so, we all get well, just to have my son (again!) break out in this awful looking rash. well, it's strep, too. so, of the last 3 weeks of school, he only attended about 5 days.

on top of the illnesses. we've had more family drama than i can take! one aunt in el salvador has been diagnosed as terminal. which prompted a last minute trip down there by both of my boys. a full week of single parenthood to two little girls nearly did me in! they came home one day and we left the next morning for the valley to visit family. of course, the grandma that lives in el salvador wasn't actually IN el salvador when the boys were there. she was in the valley. nice...

we spent our 13th anniversary on the road ready to pull our hair out.

then, this week we found out another aunt, in baton rouge, has also been diagnosed with terminal cancer. she has been given a bit longer than the other. but get this. the aunt in baton rouge is married to the brother of the aunt in el salvador. make sense? talk about stress on our poor uncle! his wife and his sister. so, at 5 am this morning my husband and mother in law went to see her (in baton rouge) for the day. 4.5 hours there, 4 hours in the city, 4.5 hours back. yikes.

all that and now i swear my son broke his nose this morning. he slammed it into the wooden arm of the couch. it looks okay, but a little sore and slightly discolored. guess we'll be taking ANOTHER trip to the doctor tomorrow. i mean, really, he would never fall and break his nose on a day that his father was actually in town, now would he???

wow...

Today, I've been married 13 years. Sometimes it feels like 3 and sometimes like 30, haha. But regardless of how it feels, I'm so happy I was a crazy teenager in love and married this man!

You know, we were talking about it yesterday. We've made it longer than either of our parents' marriages. One more year, and I'll have made it longer than my mom's second marriage also.

With the examples we had, it is truly an act of God that we are still together. It may sound silly, but I'm serious!

Well, here's the the next 13!

I hope I survive until November...

It seems too good to be true. There are not many people that I truly care to see in concert. I love a good concert as much as the next person, but I'm pretty cheap and so I usually skip pricey concerts.

But there are two people that I will see every chance I get. Melissa Etheridge and Madonna. Now, I've never seen Madonna in concert. She rarely comes to the south and, again, we are cheap. I've seen Etheridge twice. Once in 94 opening for the Eagles and at our rodeo 3 years (?) ago.

In August, my cousin is coming over from Baton Rouge to see Etheridge's Revival Tour. This is pretty exciting for me because I've never seen a full blown concert. I thought that nothing could top this. I was wrong.

My very dear friend from Baton Rouge (she was my maid of honor) just called me. She BOUGHT us BOTH tickets to Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour. Like, as a gift to me. HOLY COW! And - we have kick ass seats. No 3rd level, back row stuff. Here in Houston, too. Seriously, there is no one else I'd rather share this experience with. We did the Etheridge/Eagles concert together way back when. I'd say I'm speechless, but I'm obviously not. But I don't think I have the words for how excited I am.

Maybe it's like when Shae got to see U2. yeah? Maybe better.
